Abortion

Abortion is a subject that the Bible has a lot to say against and it is sad that many believers hesitate to speak out on its evils. It is time for believers to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Proverbs 31:8 compels the godly to do so, Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die. A little baby who is killed in the womb cannot speak for themselves. They cannot tell the world to let them live, they cannot defend themselves, but if they could they certainly would. Every person who is alive would be pro-life if they could speak from the womb, but they cannot speak, so God-fearing men and women must speak for them. We must defend them and tell the truth about the preciousness of life. We are obligated to be God’s voice to proclaim their innocence and rescue as many as the Lord allows us to. Proverbs 24:11, Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.

Politicians should be ashamed of themselves for politicalizing this issue when it is not a political issue at all, it is plain and simple the slaughter of innocent victims. This is a moral issue of the highest order. God says to take a human life is a capital offense (Genesis 9:6). To murder an innocent human being is to break God’s highest commandments (Exodus 20:13). It is inconceivable how anyone could not have compassion for a defenseless little life so wonderfully created by God. The prophet Isaiah speaks of this compassion in Isaiah 49:15, Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? The answer should be an overwhelming “no!” A woman should have compassion on her baby both outside and inside the womb. The good news is that, even if women forget their babies, God will never forget them. Isaiah 49:15-16 continues, Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands. Humans can be so cold, deceived and depraved that they terminate little baby’s lives in the womb, but God will bring those babies into His heavenly home (Luke 18:16).

Little babies in the womb are fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Psalm 139:14). They are as much of a human being, with human rights from God, as a full-grown adult. When people use arguments to support abortion they do so on purely human wisdom. They point to poverty, stigma, or equality. Those who support abortion believe for an equal society to exist, women must have unfettered access to abortion, because they claim it is the only mechanism that can effectively place men and women on an equal playing field. This is pure human reasoning and a rejection of God’s differing roles for men and women. But the real issue with abortion is not some tool to liberate women financially, or to empower women, or some idea of egalitarianism, abortion is murder. This must always be the focus of the argument. Taking a life inside or outside the womb is murder and murder is evil. No one has a right to take a life, except God.

The who believe in the God of the Bible affirm unequivocally that God is in control of pregnancy. God has determined in eternity past every human’s moment of conception. Each human being has been known by God before that person was conceived (Jeremiah 1:5). The Law of God demands nature to run its course from conception through birth and all the way to natural death in regard to human life. Abortion is perverted because it interrupts the natural life cycle created and blessed by God. From the positive side, God allows women to become pregnant (Genesis 17:16) on the other hand, from the negative standpoint, God is the One who prevents pregnancy (Genesis 20:18). Either way, God is the power behind conception. Wherever there is conception, God has made it happen. So, when someone aborts a baby, whether that is the mother, the doctor or those supporting the abortion, they are tampering with that which God has done and thus they will face the judgment of God for their actions. However, God is love and His grace will forgive any sin, even abortion, when a person genuinely repents and trusts in Christ. The way to end abortion is one soul at a time trusting Christ for salvation and living in line with Scripture.

 Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed.

You shall not murder.

Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

I will give thanks to You, for 1I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

And before you were born I consecrated you;

I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.

“I will bless her, and indeed I will give you a son by her. Then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples will 1come from her.”
